We’re now halfway through fall, and well on our way to winter. What’s that? Oh, I’m sorry – I didn’t mean to remind you. For some people, this is a time to dust off the old skis, snowboards and skates – and for others, it’s a time to stay indoors and curl up with a good movie and a friend. If you’re one of the latter, I’ve got two gourmet popcorn recipes to keep you company while you hibernate.
Brown Butter, Apple & Cinnamon Popcorn
1/4 cup + 1 tbsp butter
1/3 cup unpopped popcorn
3 tbsp white sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped dried apple rings
Melt butter on medium heat in a saucepan and continue cooking, occasionally swirling gently, until butter turns brown and emits a nutty aroma. Remove from direct heat and keep warm.
Mix white sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and set aside.
Pop the popcorn via your preferred method, then pour browned butter over top while mixing to distribute butter evenly. Sprinkle with sugar/cinnamon mixture while tossing popcorn, and add dried apple last.
